A woman is absolutely undefended from the point of view of social guarantees in the modern Russian or Ukrainian society. Especially a woman with a child. Economic problems of the country effect in general real fates of real people. Unfortunately, in the saddest way. The majority of modern men (either real or potential fathers) are absolutely unable to provide for neither themselves nor a wife and a child. Women who are tired of their daily struggle for normal life come to us. Constant poverty doesn’t affect patriotic feelings in a positive way. Besides, in the countries of the former USSR men are very much spoiled with women’s attention. They seized to value women and real family relationships. The minority of our men who managed to achieve something in their life have many female admirers and are absolutely not disposed for building normal, healthy relationships. Social policy of the countries of the former Soviet Union doesn’t encourage men for creating a sound family. They most often don’t want to get married, to take a responsibility or are not able to do it.

What should a Russian or a Ukrainian woman do in such a situation? Where should she search for a support and stability? Why should she not look in the direction of America, Europe, Australia or Canada where men from their childhood are convinced that a family is the main value, where the society and the state induce a man to create a family?
Every woman who chooses her way in search for a husband abroad makes it because of her individual reasons. Despite their diversity, in general they usually include the following:

1. A lack of men of marrying age. It is widely known that there are less men in Russia then women. Statistics shows that there are about 91 men for 100 women, meaning that for every 100 women there are 9 who are destined to be lonely! If one looks through this data according to regions and specific to aging, the image looks even sadder. Men die earlier and a part of them do it at a young age.

2. Bad habits. Slavic men are world famous for their unrestrained drinking. It’s impossible to say that the problem of alcoholism is absent in other countries, but they are far from the scale of Slavic men.
Consumption of alcoholic drinks is one of not many aspects where Russians managed to reach America and leave it behind. In Russia and in Ukraine I f your husband doesn’t drink, he is an angel without wings. A not drinking husband is considered as a great luck. Except drinking Russian men have some other traits, like laziness, unfaithfulness, being not willing to self-develop – everything about which women say ‘Russian men are awful.’ Naturally, not all men are such. However, the exception proves the rule, as they say.

3. Economic situation in the country. Certainly, Russian and Ukrainian living standards are different from the western ones. It sometimes seems to be a heroism when Slavic women give birth to children, while they want some peace, stability, comfort while there is just one life.
